The space rock of the Chileans The Ganjas meets the dub of the Argentinians Nairobi. The Ganjas are among the most important representatives of Chilean space rock and are an absolute must to experience the new Chilean psychedelic scene of the last decade. Long jams with constant drum beats and simple bass lines, complemented by innovative and colorful lyrics and synthesizers, without losing structure. Casual and concise at the same time, also thanks to the crisp production. On the other side of the Andes, the naturally eclectic Nairobis laid the foundations for a new style in dub. They have released three studio albums since 2009 and have already worked with dub producer legends Mad Professor, Lee "Scratch" Perry and Sly & Robbie. On their 2014 tour in Chile, they met up with The Ganjas at BYM Studios for an unforgettable session that resulted in this recording, characterized by complex rhythms, lush keyboards and soaring guitars, complemented by elastic grooves, spherical vocals and deep booming basslines. The album itself looks back to the past as well as into the future. With an interpretation of Bob Marley & The Wailers' "The Heathen" and other song passages, e.g. from "Pastor" and "Eagle & Snake", they travel through an incredible mix of trip-hop, dub effects and slide guitar sounds in the style of Brian Jones.Songs like "Soul Salvation" combine steady reggae beats with ingenious saxophone lines by Ignacio Czornogas (King Krule). For fans of: Primal Scream (Echo Dek), Sumo, Dub Syndicate-Murder Tone, Upsetters, Peaking Lights, Peter Tosh-Mama Africa.
