Slovenian avant-folk trio Sirom return with their expansive fifth album. In the Wind of Night... builds on the acclaim of 2022’s The Liquified Throne of Simplicity, but ventures into more melodic and accessible territory, without losing the hypnotic depth and rhythmic intricacy that define their sound. Ana Kravanja, Iztok Koren, and Samo Kutin weave folkloric motifs, dissonant textures, and ritualistic soundscapes into long-form compositions. Using nearly two dozen acoustic instruments - many of them handmade -they create music that defies genre and feels like a journey through imagined landscapes: sometimes dense and trance-like, sometimes airy and structured. Recorded live, the album reflects Sirom’s deeply collaborative process. They remain uncompromisingly original - one of Europe’s most compelling avant-folk acts.
