One of the biggest home-grown Pop Stars of the pre-Beatles era, BILLY FURY was by far the outstanding British Rock‘n’Roller. Yet ironically, he enjoyed his biggest successes with string-driven Big Beat ballads. This compilation of killer Fury cuts is drawn from eleven EPs, issued variously in the UK, France and Spain. Although his popularity was largely confined to the UK, over in Europe - notably in France - a number of nowadays fiercely collectable EPs were also issued. This unique set features several of his early hits (including ‘Halfway To Paradise’, ‘Last Night Was Made For Love’); a rare miss (‘My Christmas Prayer’), a handful of flips (including ‘A King For Tonight’), a number of LP sides (e.g. ‘Turn My Back On You’, ‘Would You Stand By Me’), and even tracks from a pair of dedicated EPs (e.g. ‘Please Don’t Go’ and ‘Play It Cool’).
