• With his trademark red Gretsch, quietly charismatic demeanour, movie star’s good looks and instantly-identifiable, ‘twangy’ playing style, DUANE EDDY became Rock‘n’Roll’s first major Instro icon.
• The prototype guitar hero, he introduced an entirely new sound to R&R by plucking dramatic, single-string lead melodies on the lower, bass strings of his axe, and making liberal use of the ‘bendy’ effect afforded by the (then, relatively-new) whammy bar.
• And with his echo-drenched 45rpms, with their signature saxes and whooping rebel yells, Duane was innovative and almost immeasurably influential.
• This compilation of classic Duane tracks is drawn from EPs issued in the US, the UK, West Germany, France and Sweden between 1958-62.
• Features an eclectic mix of hits, B-sides, and album tracks (NB: as this isn’t intended to be a “Best Of” set, only a representative sample of his hits are included).
