Both evolving to simplicity and devolving to pop music, Burzum produces a troublingly obscure and romantic work. Some call it ‘Odinpop’ but Europop might more accurately reflect the roots of the new aesthetic, which resembles the culture of the self-destructive tormented artist self who puts forth simple, corruptibly cryptic messages of angst.
