The original release of the album saw the band perfect their blend of influences from the worlds of classic Bay Area thrash, Scandinavian melodic death, and New England hardcore and achieve critical and fan acclaim from those embracing the then-burgeoning New Wave of American Heavy Metal. M-Theory Audio's reissue of “The Art of Balance” contains the record's original track listing on green haze vinyl and comes with a bonus black seven-inch vinyl containing two additional songs recorded during the time period. This reissue will also contain an expanded insert with 4-panel layout by Tom Bejgrowicz (Misfits, Beastie Boys, Bad Brains), covert artwork by Killswitch Engage member Mike D., and new liner notes by Andrew Sample (Metal Maniacs) with interview quotes from guitarists Jonathan Donais (now of Anthrax, Living Wreckage) and Matt Bachand (Act of Defiance, Living Wreckage).
