Sound Sun Pleasure!! was among the many LPs recorded by Sun Ra for the Saturn label from the mid-fifties to the early-sixties. Run by Alton Abraham and Sun Ra, Saturn Records released its first singles, including a doo-wop group The Cosmic Rays and the Arkestra’s Saturn, at the beginning of 1956. Sound Sun Pleasure!! was recorded on March 6, 1959. Made at the same time and with the same personnel as Jazz in Silhouette, the album is unusual amongst early Ra albums for predominantly featuring jazz standards.
