The fourth studio album by Electric Prunes, Release of an Oath was released by Reprise Records in 1968. The music was composed and arranged by David Axelrod, with the work following the musical pattern of Axeldrod's Mass in F Minor. The first track is based on the old Jewish prayer "The Kol Nidre", wich gives the album its subtitle. Although credited to The Electric Prunes, the album is largely Axelrod's work and mainly features a group of session musicians, such as Hiward Roberts, Carol Kaye, Don Randi and Earl Palmer, with Dick Whetstone being the only band member to contribute to the recordings.
