‘The Illusion of Safety’ is the breakthrough posthardcore album from Thrice, featuring a sharp blend of punk and metal with exceptional lyrics and musicianship. The band wrote two songs per month before recording with producer Brian McTernan (Converge, Cave In) in July 2001 at Salad Days Studios. From punk/hardcore clubs of all ages in Orange County, California, to headlining the world's biggest rock festivals and venues, ‘The Illusion of Safety’ is considered the catalyst for the band's huge success.

Even 20 years and ten albums later, you can inevitably hear the request to play ‘Deadbolt’ at every Thrice show - a testament to the staying power of an album that defined the screamo / post-hardcore era.

For this 2025 repress, again the band celebrates the legacy of the emo / post-hardcore classic by adding bonus B-side ‘That Hideous Strength’ to the vinyl.
