Trends come and trends go but Nick Heyward is proof that great songwriting is timeless. In the UK, at least, the mid ’90s will be best remembered as the time of Britpop, a return to catchy guitar-driven Pop tunes, that drew inspiration from the Beat scene 30 years earlier, and offered a more upbeat, optimistic alternative to the imported Grunge movement. To those familiar with Nick’s work, this was nothing new. Demon Records are delighted to present a new suite of reissues celebrating Nick’s work from this era.
Tangled was Nick’s fifth solo album, first released in October 1995 but never available on LP – until now. On eye-catching blue vinyl, at Nick’s suggestion Tangled will be released with a new front sleeve, shot by renowned photographer Lawrence Watson at the same session but previously only used on a ‘promo only’ CD. It includes the singles ‘The World’ and ‘Rollerblade®’ – the latter was released as part of the ‘A Hard Day’s Nick’ E.P., tellingly featuring three faithful and energetic covers of Beatles’ songs, all of which appear on 1993-1998 The Epic & Creation Years.
