Between 1959 and 1972, the German Edgar Wallace films, mainly produced by Rialto Film, became the longest-running film series in Germany. The film adaptations of the British writer’s works were a great success right from the start, not at least due to the unconventional use of exceptional music. Peter Thomas was responsible for the unmistakable sound of almost half of these thrillers (18 out of 38). Depending on the budget, he was able to let off steam: screams, gunshots, the clicking of switchblades - he used whatever he liked.
This album contains all 17 theme tunes and six other pieces that the composer wrote for the series between 1961 and 1971. It is therefore the first compilation to include all the films in the series that Peter Thomas provided with music. Among them are 5 previously unreleased tracks. Following Bruce Lee: The Big Boss, Winnetou and Old Firehand and Steiner - Das Eiserne Kreuz 2, this is the fourth LP/CD release in a series dedicated to the composer Peter Thomas (1925- 2020).
Adrian Keindorf is once again responsible for the magnificent illustrations on and in the gatefold cover of the LP and the digipack of the CD.
