Brian Poole & The Tremeloes were the band that Decca Records famously signed in early 1962 instead of the Beatles. After the Fab Four from Liverpool broke through the following year, the Tremeloes jumped on the Beatles bandwagon with a cover of "Twist and Shout." Brian Poole left the band in 1965, and Chip Hawkes joined as the new singer. The band signed a new record deal with CBS and released the Lennon/McCartney song "Good Day Sunshine" as a single in 1966.
In 1967, the band made it into the US Billboard charts for the first time with "Here Comes My Baby," penned by Cat Stevens. That same year, they had a hit with "Silence Is Golden." After that, the Tremeloes were regulars on charts worldwide. Other hits included "Here Comes My Baby," "My Little Lady," "(Call Me) Number One," "Hello Buddy," and "Yellow River."
After releasing the albums "Shiner" and "Don't Let the Music Die" for DJM Records, a label of Elton John among others, the band took a break from recording for several years. The Tremeloes returned in 1992 with a new LP, “All for One and One for All”. Of the founding members, Alan Blakely, Rick Westwood, and Dave Munden remained. Joe Gillingham and Dave Fryer completed the quintet. Their style remained the finest British pop music. Four years after the album's release, Alan Blakley died, and Dave Munden died in 2020. For years, “All for One and One for All” was considered the “lost” Tremeloes album, with copies of the CD fetching high prices online. Now, the album is being re-released with seven outtakes that didn't make it onto the original album, including gems such as "Rising Sun" and "One More Night."
