Brute drumming, a massively pressing bass lick and screeching guitars - this is how the hottest postpunk newcomer from Monte Scherbelino - the mountain of rubble from World War 2 on Stuttgart's Birkenkopf - opens its outrageously superior debut album "Scherbenhügel". BERLIN 2.0, founded in 2021 around the exceptional vocalist Elena Wolf, blessed with her sonorous voice, thus deliver an absolute highlight, under whose wavish surface always lurks a raw punk rock base that cannot be dismissed, which is of course also reflected in the excellent German-language lyrics.

Hardcore offsets mix with the influence of US death rock, but also harbor this wonderful pop affinity that makes the 10 Punk 01/12/2023 9.50 EUR tracks of "Scherbenhügel" seem as demanding and fragile as urgent and emotional.
