Following their acclaimed album En Kötü Iyi Olur, Istanbul’s electro-anarchists Lalalar return with a brand new 7’’ on Les Disques Bongo Joe, pairing two explosive tracks that bridge centuries of poetry and rebellion.

On the A side, Hapisteler Ama Yeniliğe Doğru (Imprisoned Yet Toward Anew) shines the light of Rumi’s 750-year-old verses onto the shadows of modern Istanbul. Inspired by Tülay German & François Rabbath’s 1982 Hommage à Nâzım Hikmet, the song becomes an homage within an homage — where voices of resistance and renewal echo across borders and time. Dark, glitchy and melancholic, Lalalar thrust Rumi’s words into the chaos of today with razor-sharp electronics.

On the B side, Tabancamın Sapuni channels the raw spirit of the Black Sea — one of Anatolia’s most powerful melodic legacies — through a bold fusion of industrial rave and punk energy. Beginning with a 7/8 folk groove and ending in a pounding 4/4 Berlin beat, it’s a wild journey from the mountains to the dance floor. Within Lalalar’s hypnotic soundscape, tulum melodies crash into walls of distortion and merge with the pulse of Berlin’s underground.
