Anon Playable Cloud, the latest release from UK Brighton-based band Pet Shimmers, is a chaotic and colourful piece of weird indie pop that can only be heard by those who search nowhere else in the world. They have been very popular among indie rock listeners, touring with hometown acts Porridge Radio and Happyness, and selling out their debut album Face Down In Meta in 2020 in no time. The indie-rock collective is made up of a unique and forward-thinking group of musicians, including Oliver Wilde, who is also known for his collaborations with Katy J Pearson, and William Carkeet, who also performs as Robbie & Mona. The appeal of their third album, Anon Playable Cloud, is that it is just full of unique and weird sounds. The opening track 'Swan Ton' is sparkling and bouncing with chaotic and colourful sounds that sound like they were made for toyland, and the lead track that follows, 'Sonder', is also a song that fits the ear well despite being just plain weird and mixed with a lot of noise. They have a special way of writing songs, and even though they have very messy arrangements, the strange sense of balance makes the quality of the music come directly to the brain. This is an important aspect that makes their experimental musicality possible.
