Valve video games and Ipecac Recordings have a partnership that dates back almost 15 years, beginning with the release of the Portal 2 soundtracks. Since then, the collaboration has included some of the biggest video game soundtracks available, including Team Fortress 2, DOTA 2, and the entire Half-Life series. These releases have become some of Ipecac’s best-selling physical and digital titles.
Half-Life: Alyx was originally released digitally as a series of 11 chapters between 2020 and 2022. This physical release brings those chapters together in two different formats.
The 4CD fold-out digipak includes all 72 tracks from the Half-Life: Alyx series.
The 2LP gatefold 180-gram vinyl features 21 tracks selected by the composer and includes a download card with all 72 tracks. This version has a different cover than the CD release and includes a 24x36 fold-out poster. The standard vinyl variant is black with orange splatter, while the indie store variant is orange with black splatter.
The Half-Life: Alyx game itself has sold over 2 million copies since its release in 2020 and adds to the Half-Life franchise, which has sold over 30 million copies worldwide.
