Produced after a tour of China and other experiences, "zzz" represents the band's current state and new horizons. The title, "zzz," a reference to the universally accepted symbol of sleep, was chosen with the hope that listeners would listen to it as "a journey through the unconscious," and xiexie's psychedelic sound truly transports listeners to a dreamlike state. "Alien III," a popular series in xiexie's discography, features a psychedelic yet soothing guitar sound intertwined with Meari's clear, gently flowing vocals, creating a sound that lies somewhere between loneliness and tenderness. Other tracks include xiexie's signature indie-pop tracks like "sleeping in my car" and "homeland," as well as the exotic riffs of "ocean." "The Day" also showcases a new side of xiexie, featuring a ballad-style track with Meari's vocals and Taiwanese violinist Yin-An Hsu's delicate timbre.
Based on xiexie's signature pop vocabulary and catchy melodies, the album's unique dreamy indie sound, which incorporates Asian and Western psychedelic influences, symbolizes the band's evolution and connects Asia with the world.
