Formed in Bali in 2020, Milledenials is a band that has already attracted attention not only in Asia but around the world, even before releasing their debut album, having completed a successful European tour that included the Spanish festival Primavera Sound, which has garnered huge attention worldwide. The band is set to release a record and CD!
Originally coming together to form a hardcore band, the members mixed their musical interests, shoegaze and emo, to create Milledenials' uniquely original music. Its base is a fast-paced, punkish, pop-infused musical style, but it also combines melody lines reminiscent of emo revival, a floating shoegaze guitar sound, and deep vocals to create a whole musical whole. The sheer volume of information, which may seem overstuffed when written down, is perfectly woven together. It's fascinating to see a band like this come from Bali, an island with no trace of the "punk" image.
The record being released this time features the band's debut EP, "5 Stages of Doomed Romance," and their second EP, "The Peak of Youth Life," on Sides A and B. It includes the band's signature track, "Precious Me," which has been streamed over a million times, as well as "Deny, Denial," which features a two-beat sound that rivals pop punk, a guitar sound reminiscent of indie pop, and shoegaze vocals. The CD also includes four additional tracks, including "Self Destruct & Scott Emotion (You Watched Myself Getting Destructed)," a perfect mix of emo and shoegaze from their latest EP, "It's Terrifying and It's a Shame," released in February of this year.
