The Baker Brothers, a UK jazz-funk band with immense popularity in Japan, are well-known for their distinctive sound. "Patience," a track from their 2011 album Time To Testify, which was released at the height of their popularity, is one of their most beloved cover versions. P-VINE is now releasing this track on 7-inch vinyl for the first time. The original, a classic modern soul masterpiece by ROKK, became a hot topic when it was reissued by Numero and has been spun by many record diggers. The Baker Brothers have put their own spin on it, with Chris Pedley’s crisp, prominent bassline driving the groove, resulting in a version that will undoubtedly make listeners move. On the B-side, you'll find "If You Want Me To Stay," a track from their hugely successful album Transition Transmission, which is also making its debut as a 7-inch release. While staying faithful to the original by Sly & The Family Stone, this version features an arrangement where the horns are brought to the forefront, giving the track a fresh and powerful feel. The incredible cover also benefits from the soulful vocals of Hamish Stuart, former member of the Average White Band, who adds a layer of emotional depth and melancholy, making this rendition truly exceptional.
